Prenatal Yoga & Couples' Prenatal Yoga Classes - Bookings are essential

Prenatal Yoga will support your health and well-being on many different levels throughout your pregnancy, and is an excellent way to nourish yourself and your growing baby. Yoga has been scientifically proven to decrease the duration, discomforts and complications of labour (1) and it is an ideal preparatory exercise for labour and birth because it combines the building of strength with the opportunity to relax and let go. During classes you will have time to practise useful skills for birthing such as active-birthing movements, breathing techniques, vocal toning, partner support, visualisation, massage and relaxation. 

Receive expert guidance on how to connect with your body, your breath and your ability to let go. Nurture your intuitive wisdom and inner strength, No experience is necessary and women usually join around 14 weeks after having the 12 week medical check. Postnatal Mums & Bub's Yoga provides an excellent opportunity for you to nourish yourself, connect with your new baby and to make friends with other new mums, who are sharing similar experiences to yours. All of this happens in a very relaxed and welcoming environment, where you may feed, change and settle your baby as the need arises, without any expectation for your baby to behave in any particular way. You will have the opportunity to interact with your baby but this class is focussed on YOU, giving you time to relax and also get back into shape. Classes are $18/class at The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick.

Natural Birth Skills Couples' Workshop - designed to compliment Calmbirth and RHW / POW Hospital Antenatal Classes

Hands-on workshop teaching you and your support people: yoga and active-birthing movements; partner support; acupressure techniques for pregnancy, pain relief, natural induction and breast feeding; massage for birth preparation, relaxation, and pain relief in labour; calming breathing techniques and breathing techniques for labour contractions; supported birthing positions; relaxation and visualisation. We will also talk about how food, herbs and nutrition can support you before and after birth. 

Options: 2 x Private Sessions of 2 hours, or 1 x Private Session of 3.5 hours which is inclusive of a Course Booklet, Hypnobirthing MP3's and Hypnobirthing Workbook. Cost is $395 in Coogee, or $130/hour at your place. Call Anya on 0414 622 289 for more information. 

Already done the hospital classes but want to learn lots more useful and practical skills for labour and birth? Want to create your own workshop? You can do that too. I will liaise with you on the workshop content and the cost is $110/hour in Coogee, or $130/hour at your place. The minimum booking is 1 hour.

This workshop provides a great opportunity for you to connect with your partner and to bond as a couple. Learn how your partner can support you in labour and how you can work as a team to build your confidence in the lead up to birth. This is a completely hands-on experience where you will have the opportunity to practise useful skills and techniques that can help to empower you and increase your sense of satisfaction in birth, techniques that are scientifically proven to reduce both time in labour and the need for medical interventions. You will also learn techniques that can help you enjoy your pregnancy more by reducing some of the minor discomforts such as back ache or indigestion that you may be experiencing.

Classes can be tailored for single mums, with or without support people attending. Couples may also have another support person attend without any extra cost. Please call Anya on 0414 622 289 to book.


Private sessions available for women who are on the path to conception. If you are working with an acupuncturist or naturopath then your classes can be designed to work in harmony with this and target your specific needs and energy imbalances. A great way to add a more active dimension to your mothers' group gatherings. Have lots of fun with yoga, partner stretches and a relaxing massage. The focus is on health and well-being, connecting with yourself and with one another. On a physical level release tight shoulders and upper backs, regain your abdominal strength, and tone your whole body from the inside out. On another level it's about taking the time connect with your body, to relax and let go of any tiredness and anxiety you may have been carrying around. Personalised yoga and guided relaxation classes are a beautiful way to support yourself and nourish your growing baby. 

Designed just for you, to address your specific needs - to keep you fit and to relax you into the constant changes in your body. As your pregnancy progresses and as your baby grows, your yoga practise will be adjusted so that it guides you with confidence towards a positive birth experience. 

Yoga is one of the best possible exercises a woman can do during her pregnancy. Studies show that women who practise yoga twice a week throughout their pregnancies experience better birth outcomes, with shorter labours, less intervention, less use of drugs and healthier babies with better birth weights (1). Yoga has been scientifically proven to decrease the duration, discomforts and complications of labour (2). A regular yoga practise can be preventative and it can also address many of the minor discomforts of pregnancy such as digestive disturbances, and lower back aches and pains. 

If you have been put in the "high-risk" category sessions can be tailored especially to nurture you and address your needs. 

Once you've given birth learning how to connect with your baby through yoga can be a loving practice and also a great way to get back into shape.
