PREGNANCY YOGA

Prenatal Yoga & Couples' Prenatal Yoga Classes - Bookings are essential

Prenatal Yoga will support your health and well-being on many different levels throughout your pregnancy, and is an excellent way to nourish yourself and your growing baby. Yoga has been scientifically proven to decrease the duration, discomforts and complications of labour (1) and it is an ideal preparatory exercise for labour and birth because it combines the building of strength with the opportunity to relax and let go. During classes you will have time to practise useful skills for birthing such as active-birthing movements, breathing techniques, vocal toning, partner support, visualisation, massage and relaxation.

Receive expert guidance on how to connect with your body, your breath and your ability to let go. Nurture your intuitive wisdom and inner strength, No experience is necessary and women usually join around 14 weeks after having the 12 week medical check. Classes are $18/class at The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. Reference (1) Complimentary therapies in clinical practice 2008 May 14(2). Epub 2008: 105-15 Mar 4.

MUMS & BUBS YOGA

Postnatal Mums & Bub's Yoga provides an excellent opportunity for you to nourish yourself, connect with your new baby and to make friends with other new mums, who are sharing similar experiences to yours. All of this happens in a very relaxed and welcoming environment, where you may feed, change and settle your baby as the need arises, without any expectation for your baby to behave in any particular way. You will have the opportunity to interact with your baby but this class is focussed on YOU, giving you time to relax and also get back into shape. Classes are $18/class at The Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick.

TESTIMONIALS

"I loved Anya's prenatal yoga classes so much that I attended my final class whilst 4 1/2cm dilated! I left that class 'in the zone' and feeling focused and empowered to achieve my desired birth (even though my baby girl was breach). My beautiful girl arrived bum first 13 hours later. I truly believe that attending Anya's classes assisted me in achieving a calm, relaxed, drug-free and pain free birth. Thank you Anya." Melissa Reid

“After attending the first yoga class I felt like a load had been lifted off my shoulders. The relaxation and calming effect was instant and I felt like a new person when I left. Now at 34 weeks, I have been attending pregnancy yoga each week and find it a great way to relax my mind and body. Physically, I feel more flexible, aware of my body and prepared for the birth. Mentally, Wednesday nights have become my relaxation time and provides an opportunity to concentrate on myself and the baby and let go of any stress, tiredness or fatigue. I feel a great sense of empowerment and strength in my own ability to deliver my baby naturally.Jennifer Taylor

"A way for me to slow down, connect with my changing body and baby and to feel calm, strong and confident in preparation for birth. My classes with Anya were a truly magical experience and definitely one of the highlights of my pregnancy." Rachel Hume

"The BEST yoga ever!! My husband and I loved these classes." Zoe Harvey

"I'm really grateful that I attended Anya's classes as the 'support person' because it empowered me to participate in the birth of our baby from beginning to end. I learned how to massage my partner to keep her relaxed during labour, guide her breathing to help her through contractions, and remind her of different movements that would help our baby descend. Guys, you should go! It's one of the best things you can do to support your partners." Eddy Chan

"I've done yoga before and enjoyed it but I wasn't really sure what to expect with a pre-natal focus. I left feeling re-energised, limber and ready for the next one. Anya helps you to develop a relaxed headspace and to connect with your partner and baby. Loved it. It really was an uplifting experience. Give it a go." Jack Seymour, Head Health Coach

"Dearest Anya, thank you so much for all of the wisdom and support you imparted upon us - ensuring the safe delivery of little Alexander. You are truly an amazing soul who watches over the wellbeing of so many mothers and babies." Maria Salazar

Pregnancy Yoga & Mother Baby Yoga

Personalised yoga and guided relaxation classes are a beautiful way to support yourself and nourish your growing baby.

Designed just for you, to address your specific needs - to keep you fit and to relax you into the constant changes in your body. As your pregnancy progresses and as your baby grows, your yoga practise will be adjusted so that it guides you with confidence towards a positive birth experience.

Yoga is one of the best possible exercises a woman can do during her pregnancy. Studies show that women who practise yoga twice a week throughout their pregnancies experience better birth outcomes, with shorter labours, less intervention, less use of drugs and healthier babies with better birth weights (1). Yoga has been scientifically proven to decrease the duration, discomforts and complications of labour (2). A regular yoga practise can be preventative and it can also address many of the minor discomforts of pregnancy such as digestive disturbances, and lower back aches and pains.

If you have been put in the "high-risk" category sessions can be tailored especially to nurture you and address your needs.

Once you've given birth learning how to connect with your baby through yoga can be a loving practice and also a great way to get back into shape.

$130/75 minute session in Coogee or at your place*. Block of 5 private classes $590, save $60. Please call Anya on 0414-622 289 for a private consultation. Your private yoga class may be shared with 1 extra person at no extra charge.
